Program Safe Maternity for All Women (SMAW)

The Jars of Love Community (JLC) is committed to improving health conditions in Burundi’s vulnerable and disadvantaged communities. The Safe Maternity for All Women (SMAW) project is our mother and child health program, which aims to reduce the maternal and infant mortality rate in Burundi, which is one of the highest in the world. It offers appropriate prenatal care, including free ultrasounds for poor pregnant women who cannot afford them, prenatal and postnatal consultations, and nutritional follow-up for mother and child to ensure their complete well-being. The project is currently being carried out on the premises of our TAYENA medical center, in order to be as close as possible to our beneficiaries and provide them with quality health care.
