Distribution of vital supplies and healthcare services to victims of floods
In a remarkable display of community solidarity and compassion, the Jars of Love Community, in partnership with Actions for Women’s Rights (AWOR), undertook a significant outreach effort today, June 15, 2024, distributing vital supplies to more than 100 families affected by recent floods. The items distributed were collected during a drive held in May and were aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by urban residents of KIVYETI in the KIBENGA area.
During the event, JLC provided healthcare services, including medical consultations, systematic deworming treatments, and the provision of medications to over a hundred families. Rapid malaria screenings were conducted, and a session was held to emphasize the importance of good hygiene practices. Essential hygiene kits containing antiseptic wipes for skin conditions, alcohol packs for hand disinfection, and other necessary items were also distributed to help maintain these practices.
In addition to healthcare and hygiene supplies, the families received a variety of other much-needed items gathered from the May collection. These included waterproof suits to protect against future floods, clothing, sanitary pads to help women manage their menstruation with dignity, shoes and soap. The comprehensive support offered by JLC and AWOR highlights their unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those impacted by natural disasters.
